Antonin Dvorak composed a group of eight waltzes in 1880, and shortly afterwards arranged these two gems for strings. Two of our greatest Canadian composers are Alexina Louie and Allan Gordon Bell. Alexina's Falling Through Time is a beautiful piano quintet from 2016. Allan's Lumen is a brilliant addition to the string quintet repertoire, composed in 1990. This is one of four AGB works that Astralis Quartet will be recording soon thanks to a generous grant from Alberta Foundation for the Arts. Allan will be present at the concert to introduce his quintet. We are happy to welcome guest artists Akiko Tominaga, piano and Jeremy Baumann, viola for this concert.
